Kenya's urban transport sector faces a bleak future with the oldest formal passenger transporter, the Kenya Bus Services [KBS] Ltd, [is] forced to seek protection from creditors in courts.
The queues at bus termini are growing longer in and around the city and the Transport Licensing Board says it is worried as the firm has withdrawn services from several routes.
"It has withdrawn from critical routes among them Ngong Road, Kiserian, Ongata Rongai, and Outer Ring Road. Residents who use these routes may have a crisis as we may not have someone to fill that gap," board chairman Mr Hassan ole Kamwaro said on Friday [3 June].
