The person of Iosif Stalin has come into focus of attention in Russia once again. A monument to him has been unveiled this morning in Victory Square in the centre of the town of Mirnyy in Yakutia.

The person of Iosif Stalin has come into focus of attention in Russia once again. A monument to him has been unveiled this morning in Victory Square in the centre of the town of Mirnyy in Yakutia. The event happened in a solemn atmosphere and was attended by many people, including Yakutia's President [Vyacheslav Shtyrov]. The authorities say they satisfied the requests by war veterans.
The head of administration of Mirnenskiy District Anatoliy Popov said at the ceremony, quote, we are unveiling a monument to a great son of Russia , who gave everything to his people - his talent, managerial skills, toughness and demanding character, love and devotion - and took nothing in return. He died without a rouble in his pocket, without bank accounts and property, unquote.
