Abstract

This paper presents an annotated bibliography of articles that provide information on managing the academic library cataloging department. Topics include: hiring tests for technical services support staff; changing roles for professional, paraprofessional staff and support staff; motivating and rewarding cataloging staff; a study of entry level catalogers; education for cataloging; the role of training in the reorganization of cataloging services; changes in staffing, functions, workstation setup, and personnel; managing change; leadership in the electronic age; continuing education; role-blurring and staff development; recruiting skilled workers; effective supervision; team cataloging; training for an upgrade; value added trend implications for library leaders; job satisfaction among support staff; and impact of automation on job qualifications for catalogers and reference librarians.
