DoD asked to grant extra 60 days for pair to fully prepare three-aircraft proposal
The US Ak Force's KC-X tanker contest took an extraordinary new twist last week, just days before its expected transatlantic rivals were due to submit final bids for the 1 79-aircraft deal.
First details of a surprise proposal from a US Aerospace/Antonov team emerged on 1 July, offering three potential solutions for the massive deal. Then, just three days before die USAF's 9 July deadline, the pah asked the Department of Defense to approve a 60-day extension period to allow them to finalise their offering.
