Bravo has commissioned an ambitious new series that claims it will tackle the UK's 'hoodie culture' - using kung fu.

Kung Fu Street Fighters [working title] features Shaolin monk and martial arts fighter Matthew Ahmet as he mentors a group of young men and women from across the UK to steer them away from a life of crime.

Filmed on location in the UK and Hong Kong, Ahmet trawls estates in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds looking for 12 people to take on a journey to the Far East.

In Hong Kong they learn from kung-fu instructors in a bid to teach them how to avoid conflict, channelling their aggression in a more constructive direction.

The 6 x 60-minute factual entertainment series is the first commission from Bravo for Optomen, the indie behind Gordon Ramsay shows The F Word and Kitchen Nightmares that has been acquired by All3Media in a deal believed to be worth £40m.

Optomen's Jon Swain and Ben Adler will executive produce.

It was commissioned by Sophie Wurzer-Williams.

Mark Sammon, head of commissioning for the Living TV Group, said: "This commission demonstrates our ongoing commitment to risky, ambitious and eye-catching factual content, tackling crime and social issues in a uniquely Bravo way."
