Wonderfully creative, this theological handbook adopts Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart as its literary counterpart. Each chapter begins with a passage from the novel that highlights some aspect either of African religion or of Christianity s involvement in Africa. Orobator then attempts to relate one key doctrine in Catholic teaching to a characteristically African mold of thought encapsulated in the fictional anecdote. Finally, even chapter ends with a series of discussion questions and a pertinent prayer or hymn (often composed by the author).
The book's format follows the progression of conventional Western systematics. Chapter 1 addresses methodology, constructing a paradigm fordoing Christian theology from an African perspective. In chapter 2, Orobator deals with the basic question of Christian apologetics - the existence ol Cod - before moving into the character of God as Trinity in chapter 3. Creation, sin. and grace, Jesus Christ, the church....
