This is an excellent handbook for producers and designers of fashion and textiles who want to make a positive contribution through sustainable products and practices. The book conveys the message that in addition to improving the fashion product cycle, there is a need to implement better system practices. It is urgent that we break away from the paradigm of the fashion system supported by inexhaustible consumer needs and over-consumption.
The phrase sustainable fashion, an oxymoron to some, holds the key to environmental, social, and economic well-being of our planet and its people. Fletcher outlines alternatives to the conventional linear supply-chain model that designers, producers, retailers, and consumers might implement.
