Archer Jones, judoka Caughy hit paydirt

DORIS Jones is a world champion but on Wednesday she was dominating the North, winning Manitoba's first gold medal of the 2007 Canada Games in Whitehorse, Yukon.
The 18-year-old elite archer from Selkirk earned gold in women's compound archery, outshooting her opponent from Alberta 118-113.
"It feels fantastic, I'm really happy. My goal here at the Canada Games was to do my best," said Jones, who won the 2006 world junior women's compound championship last October in Mexico. On Wednesday, she had to shoot in three elimination rounds beating athletes from Yukon, B.C. and Saskatchewan to advance to the gold-medal match. "It was extremely tough, it took a lot of hard work but I made it through."
