Note: Morgan Stanley pushed ahead with its ambition to work its way up the European league tables in 2011 with the arrival this week of five new staff. Among them was Alex Menounos, from Nomura, who will head up the bank's European syndicate effort. He is not quite a straight replacement for Giles Hutson, who left in April for Bank of America Merrill Lynch
The bank said it is keen to make a push into Europe's fixed income market where it is much less prominent than in the US.
"We are working hard on continuing to build our European footprint and the hires made should certainly give us the platform to do so," said Claus Skrumsager, head of European fixed income capital markets at Morgan Stanley.
