More than $1 billion in investments headline the projects that were awarded tax breaks Tuesday by the Michigan Economic Growth Authority.
The projects included major investments by General Motors Co., Chrysler Group LLC and Ford Motor Co.
Chrysler will invest at least $1 billion in projects that include its Sterling Heights assembly plant and potentially the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance facility in Dundee. Chrysler plans to spend $821 million renovating the plant, creating 900 jobs, according to the city of Sterling Heights.
Separately, Sterling Heights is expected to get more than 396 jobs when Boca Raton, Fla.-based Mountain Valley Recycling LLC closes on the purchase of an automotive plant to create and distribute plastic resin for manufacturers.
Mountain Valley is still negotiating the purchase.
