INTERVIEWS with workers in an Oscar-winning film about shipbuilding on the River Clyde were cut - because they all swore too much.
The story is revealed in a BBC1 documentary on Seawards The Great Ships, which won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject in 1962.
The 28-minute film, written by John Grierson, chronicles the Clyde shipbuilding industry and featured footage from Fairfield, John Brown and Scotts.
Director Hilary Harris wanted to include interviews with workers but, after hearing their language, he decided he couldn't.
