Fourteen global and local firms are aspiring to build the country's first ever LNG-based power plant, which aims at diversifying the local energy sources, officials said Thursday.
The response to build the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-based power plant is 'overwhelming,' said a power ministry official.
He said the plant must have the capacity to generate minimum 200 megawatts (mw) of electricity.
The sponsor would also have the arrangement to build higher capacity LNG-based power plant, if they are interested, said the ministry official.
Foreign firms vying for the project include - Sumitomo Corporation of Tokyo, Global Power Link of USA, Port Evaluation Management of UK, Erhard Weller...
