Abstract

(Marketwire - March 4, 2011) - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, announces the awarding of a Meritorious Service Medal (Military Division) to a member of the Canadian Forces, Colonel of the Regiment Walter Matheson Holmes. On behalf of the Governor General, Lieutenant-General Peter J. Devlin, Chief of the Land Staff, presented the insignia to Colonel of the Regiment Holmes during a ceremony at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, on February 24, 2011.

These decorations are an important part of the Canadian Honours System, which recognizes excellence. Meritorious Service Decorations honour either a single achievement or an activity over a specified period. The Meritorious Service Decorations are open to both Canadians and non-Canadians.
