Nanoparticles that find dangerous blood clots and make them visible to a new kind of X-ray technology before they cause heart attacks have been designed by researchers at Washington Univ. School of Medicine in St. Louis.
According to cardiologist Gregory Lanza, the technology could save money and time, by taking the guesswork out of deciding whether a patient with chest pain is having a heart attack. Using this technique, physicians can locate a blood clot quickly, and patients can avoid costly, timeconsuming tests.
