Abstract

The twenty-fifth Universiade Winter games were held between the 27th January and 6th February 2011 in Erzurum-Turkey, with the highest participation in the Wnter games' history. In analysing the games, the aim is to produce an analysis which will assist in lighting the way for health services oriented towards this kind of organization. The records kept for the patients have been examined retrospectively. The statistics studies have been carried out by using spss 17.0. On-the-spot health service has been given to approximately 1000 cases in competitions and exercises during the games. Also, 131 cases have been sent to hospital by ambulance. Health service has been given to 922 persons, 144 of whom were trauma, in the games village health center. Diagnoses of acute respiratory tract infections have been established in 498 cases of medical treatments. Thirty cases were transported by ambulance. 355 cases, 55 of whom were trauma, applied to the hospital. 2005 cases of medical treatments were cases related to acute respiratory tract infections. In the hospital treatments, 1 ex entry, 3 intensive care hospitalizations, and 17 service hospitalizations have been achieved. During the games, health services were provided by a team of 320 personnel, including 85 doctors and 15 mountaineering rescue crew. In all cases, the most encountered diagnosis is acute respiratory tract infection, the second is trauma. The health organization has carried out the duties without any problems and with success, as planned.
