An alliance of some of Canada's largest industrial companies, the Integrated CO2 Network, or ICO2N, said Nov. 9 that two new studies illustrate the potential of carbon capture and storage to make significant contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
One report was published by ICO2N itself, which includes companies such as TransAlta Corp. and Suncor Energy Inc. The report concludes that Canada has "a unique opportunity to be a world leader" in CCS.
The ICO2N study finds that large-scale reductions of CO2 are feasible in the near term, starting from 2015.
