The Tennessee Valley Authority has been spending roughly $1 million a day for work surrounding the cleanup of the Dec. 22, 2008, coal ash spill at its Kingston power plant in Roane County, Tenn., a company spokesman said Jan. 26.
That figure does not include long-term storage of the ash waste involved in the spill, spokesman John Moulton said, adding that TVA has not yet published any projected cost for the full cleanup project.
