FAIR LAWN - Brian Toal's attitude toward NFL lockout news seems to be the same as that of many jaded fans.
Just tell him when football is back, and the Jets' free agent signee at fullback will be ready. Until then, don't bother him with constant updates.
"I can't really do anything about" the lockout, the former Don Bosco and Boston College standout said recently, "so it's no use following it."
If the lockout finally ends, he noted: "My agent will call me. The Jets will call me."
But until that notification comes, Toal is staying quite busy, working out at least two hours per day, five days a week at Parisi Speed School here. Sure, he would like to be impressing the Jets in the weight room and on the practice field. But in this very strange NFL spring, this is the best he can do.
