On June 13, 1946, The Palestine Post reported that British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin had asked the Labor Party's conference at Bournemouth to give him more time to solve the Palestine question, and as result of this promise all opposition resolutions were withdrawn.
Yigal Frucht, 18, was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the British Military Court, which found him guilty of discharging a firearm at a British sergeant on "Wingate night," March 25, in Tel Aviv (the night the refugee ship Kismet Adalia, renamed Wingate arrived at the shore). Oved Rabinowitz, 21, was sentenced to four years, convicted of carrying arms. Large crowds cheered the prisoners as they were escorted out from the court, and shouted: "Ha'olim Ya'alu!" (the immigrants will come).
