What would you do with almost a billion and a half dollars? Anne Warhover, the president and CEO of the Colorado Health Foundation, said she is being asked that question a lot these days.
It was announced last week that Warhover's organization has entered into a nonbinding memorandum of understanding to accept $1.45 billion from HCA for its remaining 40% stake in HealthOne, a Denver-area system with seven hospitals and 13 ambulatory surgery centers.
"We're going to continue to do what we're already doing," Warhover said in an interview, explaining that the cash from HCA may not necessarily lead to the organization spending more each year, but "it will allow for the certainty of investing in more years to come."
