Nurses and midwives who behave inappropriately on social networking sites may be putting their professional registration at risk, according to new guidance.
Conduct online and in the real world should be of a similar 'high standard', according to advice issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) last week.
The regulator is investigating several fitness to practise referrals in which social networking is a factor.
The advice, which also covers nursing and midwifery students, states that registrants should never post pictures of patients online, even if asked, and should not use mobile phone cameras in the workplace.It also cautions against using social networking...
