Don't call Jay McCarroll a fashionista.
"I'm not a fashion designer. I'm a clothing designer," Mr. McCarroll said recently, sitting on a couch outside Outrageous in downtown Wilkes-Barre, under the tent where his designs would be displayed for the first trunk show he's held at the store in about five years.
Mr. McCarroll, a Lehman Twp. native, shot to stardom as the first winner of the reality show "Project Runway." In person, the designer comes across just as frank and snarky as he does on television. A conversation about his current projects veers off course several times into his philosophy on fashion, life and whatever crosses his mind at the moment - and he's not above taking a reporter's assistance to hang a rod to display...
