The Stockholm-based group is to be sold off by parent Inter Ikea. Its Europe-wide property subsidiary is expanding the range of services it offers, and has had a good start to 2010
Almost a year ago. Inter lkea bought Swedish group Catella AB for an undisclosed figure. Then last month, Inter lkea, which has financed Catella both before and since that acquisition, said it was ready to divest the entire group, which employs 475 staff across Europe, of which 270 work in real estate-related activities.
Catella chairman Lars Bertmar said the group was now open to a takeover, and that he had no plans to split off Catella' s divisions: Catella Investments, Catella Healthcare Investments, Catella Retail Fund Management, Dutch property fund manager Equity Estate and Catella Property Fund Management.
Over the past six years, Catella has added media, consumer, healthcare and technology subsidiaries. Catella AB subsidiary Catella Property Group (formerly VM Fasti ghetsekonomer) is the part that is active in real estate.
"It's definitely business as normal for us," says Johan Ericsson, deputy board member and chief executive of Catella' s real estate division, Catella Property Group (CPG).
