The Venice Biennale rolls around again this month and runs until 27 November. Bice Curiger, co-founder of Parkett and curator at Zurich Kunsthaus, curates the international exhibition in this 54th instalment. Titled 'ILLUM inations', Curiger's show will feature 82 artists, while the wider Biennale event will include 89 national pavilions and 37 official Collateral events. First-time national participants are Andorra, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Haiti and Saudi Arabia - luckily, Venice is not one to judge human-rights abuses. Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement will be awarded to Sturtevant (lnterviewAM334) and Franz West at the opening weekend, www.labiennale.org
