Imphal, Nov. 9 -- The Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) has decided to suspend all forms of agitations with immediate effect following a written commitment from the government to upgrade Jiribam revenue sub-division into a full fledged district at an early date during a meeting held this afternoon at the Chief Minister's Bungalow.
The meeting was held this evening as the government and the JDDC had failed to bring any amicable solution to the Jiribam districthood demand in an earlier meeting held yesterday.
A marathon meeting in this regard was organize since yesterday with representatives of the JDDC along with various civil bodies including NIPCO, AMUCO, IPSA, CLP, UPF and the Chief Minister of Manipur. Finally a memorandum of understanding was signed between the JDDC with the government today.
The term of agreement upon which the JDDC agreed to lift its total bandh was the written assurance in the memorandum from the government...
