THE immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Bassey Udo Adiaha Attah, added another year on November 20.
This has brought his years to 73. Born on November 20, 1938 into Udo Adiaha Attah family in Okop Ndua Erong, Asutan Ekpe in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Attah had the opportunity of having sound education, which exposed him to the worldview.
His father, who had his education in the United States, was the second Nigerian to earn a university degree in agriculture and later Masters degree in the same discipline. Victor's mother was a school teacher.
After his early education at the Native Authority School in Calabar, Cross River State and Saint Patrick College in 1956, Attah, buoyed by the zeal to carve a leadership nitch for himself, went on to acquire more academic laurels in schools abroad.
A professional architect, Attah got his first degree at the Leeds College of Arts; post graduate diploma in Building Science from the University of Liverpool, all in England.
He won the David Goodstein English Speaking Union Scholarship to study at the Columbia University in New York, the United States, where he also bagged his Masters in Architecture Design and Planning.
An alumnus of the Kennedy Graduate School of Governance at the Havard University, Attah was to bring his ingenuity to bear on the governance of Akwa Ibom State when fate invested in him the duties of superintending over the syaye's affairs as the second civilian governor in 1999.
He took the driver's seat when he emerged winner of the governorship contest in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003.
