Charity film show raises Pounds 1k

Soldiers' charity Help for Heroes has benefited from a showing of Steven Spielberg's War Horse in Wells.

Also benefiting was the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.

Tickets were free but cinema owner Derek Cooper gave an impassioned appeal asking the packed audience to give generously to the two charities and Pounds 1,000 was collected after the screening by two members of the Territorial Army, which was distributed between the two charities.
