The experiences that moved to the 21th century, which we code as Information Age, from the prior age have shown that organizational and global problems cannot be resolved by conflict approach. Creating social gathering areas and searching for ways of solution to the given problems approaching by reconciliation culture with these organized communities, nowadays develop identity thanks to the Non-Governmental Organization activities. In this context, universities as the primary places that the information is created and shared both have an important function and amorphous connections with the NGOs. The focus of interest of this study is based on the examination of the non-governmental activities and non-governmental awareness of the universities as "university students - centered". In this context, in the framework of "university-student-civil society" triplet, by revealing the scientific literature regarding the subject thoroughly, several findings and suggestions are presented about theoretic and empiric studies. The research findings show that the non-governmental organization awareness level of the students is open to develop. Moreover, they also suggest that the project based student activities, established student activities and student exchange programs can give an indirect social support by making a notable contribution to the civil society phenomenon.

INTRODUCTION
As to revise and question permanent idea patterns, universities and social sciences need to ask more questions than ever before, help people/cultures to understand each other by strengthening dialogue and communication. On the other hand, by providing people with the opportunity to come together, non-governmental organizations both enable them to protect themselves and their interests easier and more securely against the society in the group and prevent their relations with each other to break up by socializing them. (Çaha, 1998:24; Özer, 2008:87) In this context, while globalization supports the existence of international civil society, (Arslanel and Hamdemir, 2007:12), it also lays at the heart of the tension between globalization and localization. (Özalp, 2007:41) The NGOs called as the "third sector" have significant contributions in the protection of the cultural heritage of the countries (Sahin and Güner: 2), in the strengthening of the foundations of independence and in the opening up to the world.
