LINCOLN Electric says an automated welding robot cell featuring its Power Wave i400 power source and a FANUC ARC Mate 100iC robotic arm, will appear in Iron Man 2.In the film, the automated welding robot is used by the character Tony Stark to fabricate his superhero suit.According to Brian Simons, robotic programmer of the Automation Application Group at Lincoln Automation, the appearance in the movie allowed the company to demonstrate the level of technology involved in welding today.Lincoln Electric MIG, TIG and stick welding equipment was also featured in the first Iron Man film.Lincoln Electric says actor Robert Downey Jr and director Jon Favreau autographed the Power Wave i400 welding power source and the robotic arm after the shoot.
