Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the utilization of family system perspective especially Structural Family Therapy and its use in a clinical context in addition to the use of Emotional Intelligence model. An in-depth literature review explores the history and development of the model of therapy as well as examining the assessment, intervention, and termination phases of treatment. A critique of the models included, questioning several core positions offered by the literatures. A case application involving a mother rescuing her children from a domestic violent marriage is explored within the context of Structural Family Therapy and Emotional Intelligence.
