AIChE's Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) is developing a Process Equipment Reliability Database to provide high-quality, valid, and useful data pertaining to the hydrocarbon and chemical process industries. These data can support equipment availability analyses, reliability and design improvements, maintenance strategies, quantitative risk analyses, and life-cycle cost determinations.
Background
For the past two years, more than 20 database project participants have been working with CCPS and the project consultant, Det Norske Veritas (USA), Inc. (DNV), to develop the database. For several years prior to this project, CCPS and representatives from several CCPS sponsor companies worked in the area of equipment reliability data. This group developed the book Guidelines for Process Equipment Reliability Data with Data Tables. More than 2,200 copies of this book are in use today.
Database Features
Although based on published Offshore Reliability Data (OREDA) concepts and evolving International Organization for Standardization (ISO) database standards, the taxonomies, types of equipment, and equipment boundary conditions in the CCPS database have been modified, when necessary, to be relevant and useful to the...
