Nick Hall has had trouble sleeping at night for more than a week. The Longwood heavyweight's thoughts are dominated by the events that transpired in his last three appearances in the Suffolk County wrestling tournament.
And, all of them leave a bad taste in his mouth.
"I remember all of it like it was yesterday," he said. "But now it's my time and I won't be denied." In 1988, as everyone chose to leave the 177-pound weight class to get away from Comsewogue's Adam Mariano, the freshman Hall remained and made it to the final, where Mariano beat him. Afterward, Hall called it a worthwhile experience - something he would have done again.
