In an effort to create a public initiative near election day, changes have been made in the SBY-Kalla campaign team.
SINCE the beginning of August, the secretariat office of the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Jusuf Kalla team in the neighborhood of Kayun, Surabaya, appears deserted. It turns out that the election campaign team moved to a building located at the edge of a football field on Jalan Flores. This new headquarters used to be the Secretariat of the Provincial Leadership Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Justice & Unity Party (PKPI) of East Java.
In addition to the move, Yudhoyono fired Fandi Utomo, 36, from his position of regional campaign manager for SBY-Kalla in East Java. Fandi, a lecturer at the November 10 Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS) had even given up his standing as a civil servant in order to be able to join the Yudhoyono team. He was replaced by Lt. Gen. (ret) Moergito, a Chairman of the DPP PKPI of East Java.
This was only part of the reorganization of the SBY-Kalla campaign team approaching the final round of the presidential election this coming September. Moergito was appointed because of a conflict that arose...
