John Patterson was introduced as the new football coach at James Island on Tuesday, and he plans to hit the ground recruiting.
The 48-year-old Patterson, who was an assistant at The Citadel in 2004 and '05, plans to recruit the school and community as he attempts to put the pride back into the Trojans program.
"We have to get the numbers up," Patterson said. "We want more people playing football. We want more people involved in a variety of capacities. We want people playing football, keeping stats, playing in the band and painting the logos on the field. I've got a vision for the program that involves the people in the community in this thing."
Patterson moved to the Lowcountry when he was named associate head football coach at The Citadel in 2004. He served two years at the school and was named recruiting coordinator in '05.
