The name Gisele Bndchen conjures up some distinct images. The tall, bronzed Brazilian with Rapunzel hair and an Amazon body symbolises health, glamour and sunshine. But when this particular model was seen striding down the catwalk for Marc Jacobs's autumn collection at Paris Fashion Week, the image was just a tad more subdued. Recast as Miss Moneypenny, complete with tweed knee-length skirt and pussy-bow blouse, it was as if the statuesque model had been given a stern dose of style advice from Enid Blyton. If you're looking forward to a summer of fabulous 1950s fashion, all sherbet colours and girlish whimsy, enjoy it while it lasts, because a long dark winter lies ahead.
