The Pigskin Club of Washington, D.C., one of the oldest sports clubs for Blacks, announced at its 69th Annual Awards Dinner that it has elected its first woman president. The dinner honored the Washington area's top football players on the high school, college and professional level.
Lucille Hester, a longtime member of the club and well-known advocate in the District for youth sports, will become the president of the organization in February. She will serve a two-year term.
William Chesley, president of the organization, said that Hester is an outstanding leader and will do well as president.
"Ms. Hester has done great work on behalf of our organization for many years, and we look forward to the leadership and direction she will provide in the coming years," he said.
