THE doyenNE of South African cooking, SJA de Villiers, has died at the age of 91. The author of the popular cookbook, Kook en Geniet, which was later translated into English as Cook and Enjoy, had had a short bout of flu, and died at her Stellenbosch home on Monday.
De Villiers's publicist, Surita Joubert, said the writer was "a South African icon. She was the one who taught the nation to cook. In the 1940s she was known in agricultural circles...
