THE REV. JAMES COX
During the times of the Great Depression in the 1930s, many people were helped, fed, clothed and housed by the efforts of a legendary Catholic priest from a poor and old parish in Pittsburgh's Strip District.
The Rev. James Cox, locally born, raised and educated, was a World War I chaplain. Following his war duties, he was assigned to old St. Patrick's on 17th Street.
