It was a dream come true for 47-year-old Bangalore cueist Revanna Umadevi as she finally managed to win the WLBSA world billiards title, becoming only the third Indian to do so after Anuja Chandra (2005) and Chitra Magimairaj (2006, 2007).
What made the title special is the fact that Umadevi beat England's Emma Bonney, who was looking to win her fifth consecutive world billiards title, thus bringing the title back to India.
In the final played on Thursday at the Cambridge Snooker Centre, Umadevi won the one-hour match 201-143.
It was a thrilling final as in the early stages of the match the Indian trailed the defending champion but dug in and gradually built up a lead to bag the title.
