Abstract

This is a dictionary of Rincón Luiseño, an extinct American Indian language of the Uto-Aztecan family. Luiseño had several dialects, such as Rincón Luiseño, La Jolla Luiseño, and Pechanga Luiseño. This dictionary describes the Rincón dialect as spoken by Mrs. Villiana Hyde, one of the last dominant native speakers of Rincón Luiseño. This dictionary also contains data on other dialects of Luiseño as collected by William Bright, Constance Goddard DuBois, John Peabody Harrington, and Philip Sparkman.
