Differential topology and the h-cobordism theorem

Abstract

Differential topology is the study of smooth manifolds and smooth maps between manifolds. The h-Cobordism Theorem provides a condition for determining whether two manifolds are diffeomorphic. This thesis presents some basic elements of differential topology and a proof and discussion of the h-Cobordism Theorem.
