The OASIS Collections Consultants at ProQuest work collaboratively with librarians to build book profiles and plans that best meet a library's book collection goals and budgets. By combining their industry expertise with ProQuest technology and library input, collections consultants are able to recommend the right book acquisition models and workflows that help librarians build collections that are relevant for their patrons.
The Collections Consultants can create book profiles that accommodate any combination of librarian requirements, from simple to complex. The OASIS platform allows consultants to create profiles based on a wide range of parameters including but not limited to, subject, publisher, price, publication date, keywords, classification (Dewey or LCC) and acquisition models such as approvals, standing orders, new title slips, and DDA. Profiles can be for print or ebooks or for a combination.
Collections Consultants are librarians themselves with Masters degrees in Library and Information Science and prior work experience at libraries. They leverage this experience to work as an extension of the librarian’s team.
Libraries depend on the unparalleled customer service delivered by the ProQuest Collections Consultants. Consultants are assigned to specific libraries, enabling them to develop deep knowledge about the needs of their libraries, as well as foster strong personal relationships over time. They connect with libraries throughout the year to engage in interactive, specialized reviews of library plans and work with librarians to keep their profiles up-to-date and accurate.
