The Soviet Biographic Archive is the largest and most important source of biographical information on personalities in the public and political life of the Soviet Union in the post-World War II period.
A working clippings file compiled and kept current for the benefit of the staff of Radio Free Europe-Radio Liberty Inc., the `Red Archive' covers a vast range of public figures from Party and State officials, members of the security apparatus and military personnel to directors of enterprises, chairmen of kolkhozes and prominent scientists, artists and journalists.
With one million clippings from over 35 newspapers and magazines and abstracts on over 50,000 people, the Archive is an invaluable source of information for governmental and international organizations, scientific and academic institutions, the media and individual researchers. Now available on microfiche, it is regarded as one of the single most important reference works in any library with a serious interest in Soviet Studies.
