Overview

John Thomas was a physician and surgeon by training who answered the call to arms and distinguished himself as a military officer during the American Revolution. He achieved the rank of Major-General before his death in 1776 and fought under George Washington, taking command of various units and helping end the British occupation of Boston.

This microfilm collection contains the papers of John Thomas, and provides additional information for students and researchers into military matters during the fight for independence.

Titles from the Massachusetts Historical Society Collections may be purchased by individual reel.
