A violência escolar é um tema que tem sido discutido amplamente pelos profissionais da educação e da saúde. O artigo visa discutir o fenômeno do bullying escolar, destacando-se os aspectos contemporâneos que contribuem para o seu aumento. Bullying compreende diferentes formas de agressão, proposital e repetida, adotadas por um ou mais indivíduos contra outro(s) em uma relação desigual de poder. Pesquisas apontam a necessidade de priorizar estratégias de prevenção do bullying nas instituições de ensino. Sugerem-se formas de intervenção em contexto escolar.
