Abstract

The aim of this study was to verify through interviews at home, the prevalence of physical inactivity in climacteric women and seek associations between demographic variables, socioeconomic and health related. Participants completed the IPAQ questionnaire - long version, and provided demographic, socioeconomic and health self-reported information. The sample was selected through sampling by conglomerates, including 625 women who were at the stage of menopause. It was calculated the prevalence and prevalence ratio to observe the associations between physical activity and physical inactivity during leisure time with the socioeconomic, demographic and health-related in the study. The prevalence of physical inactivity was 53.1%. Analyzing the prevalence ratio by odds ratio, smoking was associated with physical inactivity OR = 1.32 (CI 1.11-1.56). Physical inactivity was associated with smoking but was not associated with demographic and socioeconomic variables. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
