Abstract

Education is experiencing an intense process of change, which seeks to move from the learning of knowledge to the acquisition of skills. In this way, the realization of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) introduces need to acquire generic skills for university students. At the same time, vocational training has to meet the needs of the productive environment. But, what are those needs? Based on two studies on Andalusia and Campo de Gibraltar enterprises, we find out that companies demand especially social, human, and conceptual skills, and we analyze if those skills are acquired by vocational training, or whether they have to be acquired since the early levels of education.
