Abstract

The study focused on the future model for maquiladora factories in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Manufacturing has played an important role in the Economy of Mexico, and many individuals rely on the success of maquiladoras for individual and family sustenance. A panel of experts familiar with the role and history of maquiladoras participated in the Delphi study to help describe what future maquiladoras in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, will look like. Panel members consisted of industry experts, education experts, and government experts. The panel of 21 experts responded to three iterative rounds and reached 100% consensus on how future maquiladoras should look. The literature review uncovered other successful manufacturing-based Delphi research studies and the findings from this study should be useful to leaders in industry, education, and government as plans are made to sustain the manufacturing base in the region.
