Abstract

Tailoring anti-microbial therapy based upon culture and sensitivity results if available, will help reduce cost, decrease the incidence of super-infection and minimize the emergence of resistance. [...]it could be rewarding to invest in seeking microbiological answers in a patient whom we clinically believe has an infective aetiology (bacterial) before instituting antibiotics. [...]the national data base does not exist.
