Il ruolo dello spazio esterno nel contenimento dei consumi energetici dell'edificio/The role of the outdoor space in the containment of the energy consumption of the building

Abstract. Nella maggior parte degli spazi urbani contemporanei realizzati negli ultimi decenni in Italia appare scarsa l'attenzione alla creazione di nicchie ambientali in grado di mitigare il microclima. Il seguente studio indaga quanto la progettazione fisica dello spazio esterno influisca sia sulla dimensione immateriale dello spazio stesso (vivibilità, comfort), sia sulle prestazioni ambientali stesse degli edifici limitrofi. Lo studio favorisce la definizione delle tecniche di riqualificazione energetico-ambientale da utilizzare nel recupero degli edifici a partire dalle condizioni microclimatiche degli spazi esterni. L'analisi delle caratteristiche microclimatiche negli spazi urbani e le implicazioni in termini di comfort apre nuove possibilità per lo sviluppo degli spazi urbani sia in termini di nuova progettazione che di riqualificazione degli agglomerati esistenti.

Introduzione

Uno dei principali obiettivi della progettazione ambientale nei contesti urbani è la creazione di quartieri dotati di spazi aperti confortevoli. I parametri microclimatici, pertanto, sono di importanza centrale per le attività che vengono svolte all'aperto e in larga misura ne determinano l'uso. Le risposte al microclima possono essere inconsce, ma molto spesso si traducono in un uso differenziato degli spazi aperti a seconda delle diverse condizioni climatiche. Per tale motivo, comprendere la ricchezza delle caratteristiche microclimatiche negli spazi urbani esterni, e le implicazioni in termini di comfort per le persone che li usano, apre nuove possibilità per la progettazione degli spazi urbani sia in termini di nuova progettazione che di riqualificazione degli agglomerati esistenti. I parametri ambientali che influiscono sulle condizioni di comfort termico esterno, benché simili a quelli relativi agli spazi interni, sono caratterizzati da una maggiore e più complessa variabilità. Pertanto, a causa della complessità in termini di variabilità spazio-temporale di tali parametri e della vasta gamma di attività nelle quali le persone sono impegnate, ci sono stati finora pochissimi tentativi di comprendere le condizioni di comfort all'esterno ma soprattutto di come, gli effetti climatici esterni possono ripercuotersi sulle condizioni di comfort all'interno degli spazi abitati. Nel presente studio, si vuole dimostrare come, a partire da un'accurata analisi sulle condizioni esterne del comfort climatico dell'agglomerato residenziale oggetto del presente studio, sia possibile individuare tecnologie appropriate per la riqualificazione delle singole unità abitative, migliorando i parametri di benessere termico all'interno delle abitazioni stesse.

Metodologia e strumenti software per l'analisi energeticoambientale

Al fine di realizzare le verifiche previste si è proceduti ad individuare e sperimentare una metodologia che prevede l'uso in cascata di differenti software specializzati in analisi energetico-ambientali a differenti livelli di complessità. Individuate le prestazioni richieste, è stata verificata l'appropriatezza dei dati di out-put in funzione delle analisi richieste ed in funzione dei dati di input di ciascun software a partire da un unico modello tridimensionale. I software individuati la cui interoperabilità è stata verificata e sperimentata positivamente sono: ArchiCAD, EcoDesigner, Ecotect, Design Builder, Energy plus. Per la creazione dei dati climatici derivandoli dall'interpolazione dei dati climatici delle stazioni limitrofe più vicine è stato utilizzato Meteonorm.

Fasi metodologiche

Di seguito si descrivono le principali fasi dello studio.

Diagnosi energetica

- Scala insediativa

L'obiettivo di questa analisi, è di verificare le possibili influenze che il clima esterno possa avere nell'individuare possibili tecnologie appropriate per l'efficienza energetica complessiva dell'insediamento, che non si basino solamente sulla classe climatica di appartenenza riferita alla località. La prima azione è stata la scomposizione 'termica' dell'isolato per valutare separatamente la qualità ambientale del contesto sia sotto il profilo termo-igrometrico (temperature, livelli di umidità relativa,...) e sia soprattutto di benessere climatico valutando i livelli sia di sensazione termica che dell'indice di sensazione da parte degli abitanti del quartiere. Tali parametri sono stati valutati mettendo a confronto due metodologie di calcolo: l'ASV (Linee guida Rurors) e PMV (Fanger). Entrambi pur confrontandosi sulle condizioni climatiche invernali hanno evidenziato delle deficienze nel periodo estivo, dando come risultato una sensazione di 'molto caldo', fatto anomalo in una località di montagna.

- Scala edilizia

La diagnosi si è concentrata sulla verifica delle prestazioni termiche residue del sistema edificio-impianti degli edifici, evidenziandone la scarsa qualità dell'isolamento termico e della gestione energetica in periodo invernale oltre ad un'inefficienza complessiva del sistema impiantistico. Tutte le abitazioni risultano in classe G. Inoltre, la verifica della qualità ambientale interna è coerente con quella effettuata alla scala urbana ovvero, in estate si ottengono livelli di discomfort significativi.

Retrofit energetico

- Scala insediativa

La prima proposta ha considerato semplici ed economiche soluzioni migliorative del clima urbano, intervenendo sulle pavimentazioni impermeabili che caratterizzano l'area (asfalto, lastricati, ...) con superfici capaci di ridurre l'effetto albedo e migliorare la qualità ambientale dello spazio esterno.

- Scala edilizia

Per elevare le prestazioni termiche degli edifici, si ipotizza l'applicazione di tecnologie migliorative di involucro in relazione agli orientamenti: isolamento delle coperture con sistema di ventilazione, isolamento a cappotto sulle facciate a nord e pareti ventilate o in alternativa pareti verdi, per le pareti a sud, ad est e a ovest. Questo, oltre a garantire un adeguato isolamento termico nel periodo invernale, ci garantisce un'efficienza complessiva del sistema involucro nel periodo estivo.

Efficienza energetica

- Scala insediativa

Le verifiche delle soluzioni progettuale dei livelli di sensazione termica e dell'indice di sensazione valutati sia con il metodo ASV che con il metodo PMV, ci mostrano come, con semplici soluzioni, la qualità ambientale esterna migliora notevolmente, con una positiva ripercussione sul benessere all'interno degli ambienti confinati.

- Scala edilizia

Per elevare le prestazioni termiche degli edifici, si ipotizzano tecnologie migliorative dell'involucro edilizio mettendole in relazione ai diversi orientamenti: isolamento delle coperture con sistema di ventilazione, isolamento a cappotto sulle facciate a nord e pareti ventilate o in alternativa pareti verdi, per le pareti a sud, ad est e a ovest. Questo, oltre a garantire un adeguato isolamento termico in periodo invernale, ci garantisce un'efficienza complessiva del sistema involucro nel periodo estivo. La definizione di dette tecnologie, è legata alla qualità ambientale del clima urbano che diventa elemento determinante nella scelta delle tecnologie migliorative degli edifici.

La sperimentazione su caso di studio

Per il caso studio è stato scelto l'agglomerato urbano di edilizia popolare sito nel comune di Monticchio (Aq), realizzato intorno agli anni '50-'60 e gravemente danneggiato dal sisma che ha colpito l'Abruzzo il 6 aprile 2009, da considerarsi emblematico per l'alto numero di situazioni analoghe.

L'agglomerato si articola in un sistema modulare di unità abitative, distribuite a formare due lunghe stecche residenziali separate da una strada interna che si sviluppa in direzione NE-SW e sulla quale si affacciano i corpi di abitazioni in linea. Sui lati NW-SE di queste, si sviluppano sei gruppi di unità abitative con affaccio principale rivolto a SW-NE. A completare l'intera composizione, sul lato NE è presente una terza stecca di abitazioni in linea quasi a chiudere l'edificato con l'intenzione di voler separare la zona fredda del sito dagli spazi abitabili. Le abitazioni si sviluppano per 2 e 3 piani e sono realizzate con una struttura in cemento armato, pareti di tamponamento a cassetta prive di isolamento termico, copertura in laterocemento e infissi in alluminio.

L'alternanza dei blocchi abitativi disposti a spina forma delle corti interne con tre lati edificati ed uno aperto sullo spazio circostante. Le due stecche della tipologia in linea della zona centrale, sono separate da una strada interna asfaltata della larghezza di circa sette metri, le abitazioni sul lato SW-NE sono dotate di un'area verde di pertinenza orientate a SW. Per finire, sul lato SE a circa 10 metri dalle abitazioni, troviamo il blocco dei garages indipendente dal complesso.

Per la verifica delle prestazioni ambientali riferite allo stato di fatto, il primo passo è stata la 'scomposizione termica' dell'agglomerato, associando ad ogni elemento un ruolo termico:

- edifici residenziali (massa termica);

- spazi verdi privati (nicchie microclimatiche);

- spazi pavimentati (amplificatori termici);

- garages (spazio tampone).

Analisi energeticoambientale dell'ambiente esterno

Le caratteristiche fisiche degli spazi esterni influiscono sia sulla dimensione climatica dello spazio stesso e sia sulle prestazioni energetiche degli edifici limitrofi.

Nell'indagare le possibili influenze, sotto un profilo energetico-ambientale, che il contesto, sia esso naturale che antropizzato, può avere sull'individuazione di soluzioni tecnologiche finalizzate alla riqualificazione energetica degli agglomerati edilizi esistenti, si è determinato anche come queste ultime influenzano le prestazioni energetiche degli edifici limitrofi.

In questa fase è stata analizzata la tipologia delle superfici costituenti le aree esterne presso l'edificato. Sono state condotte verifiche attraverso analisi puntuali sulle varie parti che compongono l'agglomerato e del suo contesto. La procedure utilizzata per la definizione di un metodo applicabile e replicabile per queste particolari tipologie abitative, è stata così strutturata:

- Verifica dell'impatto sole-aria1;

- Verifica dell'indice di gradimento termico degli spazi esterni;

- Individuazione e 'correzione' delle superfici esterne ritenute più gravose da un punto di vista energetico e di benessere degli occupanti;

- Individuazione delle tecnologie più appropriate per il miglioramento energetico delle abitazioni.

Sono state condotte analisi puntuali delle superfici costituenti l'insediamento in relazione alla finitura superficiale, al grado di permeabilità e quindi all'indice di 'albedo' che le caratterizza, cercando di evidenziare le possibili relazioni energetiche tra le condizioni esterne e quelle interne.

I parametri ambientali di riferimento, per una verifica della qualità ambientale degli spazi esterni possono raggrupparsi in due categorie:

- fisici (temperature, radiazioni, ventilazione, ...)

- fisiologici e comportamentali.

Un'accurata analisi dell'impatto sole-aria ha evidenziato il rapporto oggettivo tra insediamento e contesto ambientale e climatico. Nella fase preliminare, le verifiche numeriche hanno valutato anche l'orientamento e la 'compattezza' dell'intervento, oltre che i parametri climatici, in quanto i risultati che interessavano questa prima fase, erano rivolti all'individuazione di tecnologie rivolte alla riqualificazione energetica degli edifici limitrofi.

In particolare è stata effettuata la verifica delle condizioni di comfort termico degli abitanti negli spazi esterni, valutate attraverso due sistemi di indagine analitica:

- Valutazione di Sensazione Reale-AVS2 (Actual Sensation Vote), metodo semplificato: valuta le condizioni di comfort su una scala di sensazione termica di 5 punti (troppo freddo, freddo, né freddo né caldo, caldo, molto caldo), considerando, come parametri di riferimento che possono influenzare dette condizioni la temperatura dell'aria e il vento, dal momento che l'effetto della radiazione solare viene mascherato dalla temperatura dell'aria a causa della loro stretta correlazione.

- Predicted Mean Vote o PMV (Voto Medio Previsto), modello adattativo di Fanger, che è invece basato sull'equilibrio termico del corpo umano, che prefigura il valore medio dei voti di un vasto gruppo di persone su una scala di sensazione termica di sette punti. A differenza dell'ASV, il metodo valuta le condizioni di comfort prendendo in considerazione come parametri ambientali, la temperatura dell'aria, la temperatura media radiante, la velocità dell'aria e l'umidità dell'aria, integrati al metabolismo e all'isolamento del vestiario (ISO 7730, 1994).

Il metodo ASV ha mostrato buone correlazioni tra i parametri microclimatici di riferimento e i risultati ottenuti, evidenziando una certa discrepanza con la stagione estiva: se in inverno entrambi i metodi hanno dato risultati confrontabili con le reali condizioni climatiche di riferimento, in estate i risultati sono abbastanza anomali se confrontati con le caratteristiche climatiche di una zona E.

Per approfondire tali risultati, è stata condotta un'indagine analitica più approfondita in regime transitorio per il calcolo del PMV così da considerare la dinamicità dei parametri climatici di riferimento e cercare di ottenere risultati confrontabili con le condizioni reali di riferimento.

In questa fase, lo studio si è concentrato sulla verifica della qualità ambientale solo della strada interna. Anche in questo caso, i risultati del PMV ottenuti sono confrontabili, qualitativamente, con i risultati precedenti, mettendo in evidenzia come in estate, pur trovandoci in una località 'fredda', abbiamo un valore paragonabile alla sensazione del 'troppo caldo'.

Dimostrare come gli effetti dei parametri ambientali, che inevitabilmente influiscono sulle condizioni di comfort termico esterno, possono influenzare la scelta di soluzioni tecnologiche e morfologiche appropriate ad uno specifico contesto, ci ha portato a valutare gli effetti che il contesto, da un punto di vista climatico, ha sugli edifici limitrofi. Successivamente, è stata effettuata un'analisi termica di impatto radiativo sulle superfici verticali dell'edificio prospiciente la strada interna dell'isolato necessaria per verificare le possibili influenze 'termiche' dell'ambiente esterno sulle condizioni di comfort interne e sulla successiva definizione delle tecnologie appropriate per la gestione termica sia in estate che in inverno.

Dai risultati ottenuti si evince come, nella stagione estiva l'effetto albedo della strada interna asfaltata è tale da innalzare notevolmente i livelli di radiazione termica sull'involucro edilizio che, in presenza di tecnologie non appropriate, si ripercuote sulla qualità ambientale all'interno degli spazi chiusi.

Ipotizzando una riduzione di superficie asfaltata della strada e sostituendola con una tradizionale 'erborella' che riduce la superficie impermeabile di circa il 30%, si ottiene un miglioramento oggettivo della distribuzione della radiazione solare riflessa per effetto dell'albedo.

I risultati così ottenuti sottolineano come, in una ipotesi di riqualificazione globale di agglomerati residenziali, la verifica delle condizioni ambientali degli spazi esterni, apre nuove metodiche nell'individuazione delle soluzioni progettuali più adeguate al caso specifico.

Basandoci solo su metodologie che derivano il funzionamento energetico globale di un edificio dai soli valori di trasmittanza termica dell'involucro, si posso erroneamente scegliere soluzioni che, invece, presentano un alto rischio sia di surriscaldamento estivo che di condensa nelle strutture.

In presenza di agglomerati abitativi, i risultati ottenibili da un simile approccio possono risultare parziali e portare a previsioni non rispondenti alle reali prestazioni. Adottare metodiche basate sull'interrelazione della natura dello spazio esterno sul comportamento energetico- ambientale delle strutture adiacenti, comporta una migliore previsione della prestazione globale degli edifici.

Soluzioni meta progettuali e strategie di riqualificazione energetico-ambietale

Questa fase è attualmente in corso, ma già possono prefigurarsi alcune soluzioni possibili come le facciate 'verdi' sul lato maggiormente esposto alla radiazione estiva. Un sistema di serre bioclimatiche collocate in adiacenza delle zone giorno degli alloggi, che si differenziano però in funzione dell'esposizione.

Conclusioni

Questo studio3 pone l'attenzione su un approccio scientifico delle discipline che studiano l'approccio bioclimatico del progetto di riqualificazione ambientale, superando la tradizionale interazione tra microclima interno ed esterno di un edificio integrandolo con il comportamento microclimatico degli spazi esterni. Questi spazi aperti che vanno dalle semplici corti e giardini, alle strade e piazze definiscono il quadro ambientale dell'intero sistema edificio.

I parametri da prendere in considerazione per una efficiente riqualificazione ambientale dello spazio urbano sono principalmente: elementi antropici (piazze, larghi, vie, viali, strade); elementi biofisici (vegetazione, acqua, suolo); elementi bioclimatici (ventilazione, soleggiamento, umidità, temperatura superficiale).

Nelle nostre regioni, in particolare, nel periodo estivo, si registra un disagio termico degli ambienti urbani dovuto al surriscaldamento dell'aria per effetto combinato dell'isola di calore, del surriscaldamento delle superfici edilizie e degli asfalti stradali. Ciò induce ad un maggior uso dei sistemi di condizionamento che immettendo calore nell'ambiente esterno ne peggiorano le condizioni di comfort. La scelta di soluzioni che riducono le potenze impiegate dagli impianti integrativi, quali ed esempio facciate verdi e tetti giardino, od altri sistemi bioclimatici, derivata dallo studio scientifico delle condizioni esterne, ci permette di definire un sistema edificio a basso impatto ambientale ed alto livello di comfort degli abitanti.

1 Quando una parete è investita da radiazione solare, la parete assorbe parzialmente l'energia incidente secondo il suo coefficiente di assorbimento producendo un innalzamento della temperatura della superficie stessa. Tale variazione di temperatura produce variazione del flusso termico che interessa la parete rispetto alla situazione di assenza della radiazione solare, al punto che la superficie potrebbe riscaldarsi fino ad invertire il flusso termico scambiato con l'aria esterna, in condizioni estive uscente anziché entrante ed in condizioni invernali entrante anziché uscente. In pratica tutto avviene come se l'aria esterna avesse una temperatura fittizia più elevata, tale da fornire per scambio liminare anche il flusso termico corrispondente alla radiazione solare.

The role of the outdoor space in the containment of the energy consumption of the building

Abstract. In most of the contemporary urban spaces built in recent decades in Italy little attention is evident on the creation of environmental niches that are able to mitigate the microclimate. The following research aims to verify how the physical design of the outer space affects either the immaterial dimension of the space itself (livability, comfort), and the environmental performances of the surrounding buildings. The research supports the definition of the energetic-environmental requalification techniques to be used in the recovery phase of buildings. The analysis of the microclimatic features in the outdoor urban spaces, together with the implications in terms of comfort for those people who use them, opens new possibilities for the development of urban areas for what concerns both the new design and the requalification of the existing built-up area.

Because of the complexity in terms of space-time variability of such parameters and of the wide set of activities in which people are committed, there have been so far very few attempts to understand the external comfort conditions, but mainly of how the external climatic effects could have an impact on the internal comfort conditions of the inhabited area.

Introduction

One of the main objectives of the environmental design in urban contexts is the creation of districts with comfortable open spaces. The microclimatic parameters, therefore, are of the utmost importance for all activities that occur in the open air and that define its use at a large extent. The answers to the microclimate may be unconscious, but very often result in a varying use of the open spaces depending on the different climatic conditions. For this reason, understanding the richness of microclimatic features in outdoor urban spaces, and the implications in terms of comfort for the people who use them, opens up new possibilities for the design of the urban spaces in terms of both new design and redevelopment of existing agglomerates. The environmental parameters that affect the conditions for outdoor thermal comfort, although similar to those relating to interior spaces, are characterized by a greater and more complex variability. Therefore, due to the complexity in terms of variability time-space of these parameters and the wide range of activities in which people are engaged, so far very few attempts have been made to understand the comfort conditions on the outdoor but especially as, the external climatic conditions can affect the comfort conditions in the inhabited spaces. In the present study, we want to demonstrate how, from a thorough analysis of the external conditions of environmental comfort in the residential agglomerate that is the object of the present research, appropriate technologies for the retraining of the individual units can be identified, improving the parameters of thermal comfort within the dwellings themselves.

Methodology and software tools for the energy and environmental analysis

In order to provide the expected analysis and a methodology consisting in the subsequent use of different specialized software for the energy ad environmental analysis was identified and applied. Once the requested performance had been identified, and has been checked for appropriateness of the data of the out-put as a consequence of the analyzes requested and of the input data of each software from a single three-dimensional model. The interoperability of the selected software was verified and tested positively. These are: ArchiCAD, EcoDesigner, Ecotect, Design Builder, Energy plus. For the creation of climate data derived from the interpolation of the climate data of neighboring closer stations was used Meteonorm.

Methodological Steps

The following describes the main steps of the study.

Energy Diagnosis

- Urban scale

The objective of this analysis, it is to verify the possible influences that the external climate can have in identifying possible technologies appropriate for the overall settlement energy efficiency, which are not based solely on climate class of membership refers to the location. The first action was the "thermal" break up of the urban lot to evaluate separately the environmental quality of context both under the thermo-hygrometric profile (temperatures, relative humidity levels, ... ) and the environmental wellness by assessing the levels of both thermal sensation that the index of feeling of the neighborhood inhabitants. These parameters were evaluated by comparing two calculation methods: the ASV (guidelines Rurors) and PMV (Fanger). Both, though they are focused on the winter climatic conditions, highlighted weaknesses in the summer analysis, resulting in a feeling of 'very hot', not common to locations in the mountains.

- Building Scale.

The diagnosis verified the residual thermal performances of the system building-plant of buildings, highlighting the poor quality of the thermal insulation and energy management in the winter period in addition to an overall inefficiency of the plant system. All of the dwellings are in class G. Also, starting from the results above, the verification of the internal environmental quality is consistent with that performed at the urban scale which means that significant discomfort levels are obtained in summer.

Energy Retrofit

- Scale urban sprawl

The first proposal considered simple and economic solutions to improve the urban climate, with interventions on the waterproof pavements that characterize the area (asphalt paved, ...) with surfaces that are capable of reducing the albedo effect and improving the environmental quality of outer space.

- Building Scale.

To improve the thermal performances of buildings, it is assumed the application of improved envelope technologies in relation to the orientations: insulation of roofs with ventilation system, coatinsulation on the north facades and ventilated walls or alternatively green walls, for the walls facing south, to the east and west. This, in addition to ensuring an adequate thermal insulation in winter, gives us an overall efficiency of the system enclosure during the summer period.

Energy Efficiency

- Urban scale

The verifications of the design solutions of the levels of thermal sensation and the index of feeling assessed with both the ASV and the PMV methods show that, with simple solutions, the environmental external quality improves greatly, with a positive impact on the environmental quality of indoor spaces.

- Building scale.

To improve the thermal performance of buildings improved envelope technologies are conceived by putting them in relation to different orientations: insulation of roofs with ventilation system, coat insulation on the north facades and ventilated walls or alternatively green walls for the walls facing south, east and west. This, in addition to ensuring an adequate thermal insulation in the winter period, gives us an overall efficiency of the system enclosure during the summer period. The definition of these technologies is linked to the environmental quality of urban climate that becomes a crucial factor in the choice of technology improvements of the buildings.

The experimentation on case study

A social housing neighborhood in Monticchio (Aq) was identified as a case study. It was built in the years '50/ '60 and severely damaged by the earthquake that struck Abruzzo on April 6, 2009. It can be considered representative of the great number of similar situations. The neighborhood is divided into a modular system of units, distributed to form two long residential bodies separated by a back road that develops in the direction NE-SW and on which overlook the bodies of dwellings in line. On the NW-SE fronts of these, one can find six groups of residential units overlooking the main direction SW-NE. To complete the entire composition, on the side there is a third strip of houses in line to close the built with the intention to separate the cold area of the site by the living spaces. The houses are developed for 2 and 3 levels and are made with a reinforced concrete structure, curtain walls to cassette without thermal insulation, cover brick and aluminum frames. The alternation of blocks arranged to plug shape of the inner courtyards with three sides edified and one open on the surrounding space. The two strips of the type in the line of the central zone, are separated by a back road paved width of about seven meters, dwellings on the side SW-NE are equipped with a green area of relevance are oriented to the SW. Finally, on the SE side at about 10 meters from dwellings, we find the block of independent garages from the resort. For the verification of the environmental performance reported to the state of fact, the first step has been the 'thermal decomposition' of the agglomeration, by associating each element a thermal role: residential buildings (thermal mass); private green areas (niches microclimatic); spaces paved amplifiers (thermal); garages (buffer space) (Fig. 1).

Analysis energy-environmental of the external environment

The physical characteristics of the external spaces affect both the climatic dimension of the space available and is the energy performance of nearby buildings. To investigate the possible influences, under an energy environmental profile, that the context, be it natural that anthropic, can have on the identification of technological solutions aimed at energy upgrading of the agglomerates existing building, it was also determined how these affect the energy performance of neighboring buildings. In this phase was analyzed the surfaces forming the external areas at the built. Were conducted checks through selected analyzes on various parts that compose the agglomerate and its context.

The procedures used for the definition of an applicable method is replicable for these particular housing typologies, was structured as follows:

- review of the impact sun-air1;

- review of the satisfaction index of thermal outdoor spaces;

- identification and 'correction' of the external surfaces considered more severe from an energy point of view is of wellbeing of the occupants; identifying the most appropriate technologies for the improvement of energy performance of homes. Analyzes were carried out punctual of the surfaces constituting the settlement, in relation to the surface finish, to the degree of permeability and therefore to the index of 'albedo' which characterises it, trying to highlight the possible energy relations between the external conditions and the internal ones.

The environmental reference parameters, for a review of the environmental quality of outdoor spaces can be grouped into two categories:

- physical (temperature, radiation, ventilation, ... );

- physiological and behavioral.

A careful analysis of the impact sun-air has highlighted the objective between settlement and climate-environmental context. In the preliminary phase, the numerical tests have also evaluated the orientation and the 'compactness' of the intervention, as well as the climatic parameters, the results of this first phase, were aimed at the identification of technologies aimed at energy upgrading of neighboring buildings.

In particular has been carried out to verify the conditions of thermal comfort of the inhabitants in the outdoor spaces, as assessed through two systems analytical survey:

-Evaluation of true sensation-AVS2 (Actual Sensation Vote), simplified method, evaluates the conditions of comfort on a scale of thermal sensation of 5 points (too cold, cold, neither cold nor hot, hot, very hot), whereas, as reference parameters that can affect these conditions, the temperature of the air and the wind, as the effect of the solar radiation is masked by the temperature of the air because of their close correlation.

- Predicted Mean Vote or PMV (Average vote provided), adaptive model of Fanger, which, on the other hand, is based on the thermal equilibrium of the human body, which foreshadows the average value of the votes of a large group of people on a scale of thermal sensation of seven points. Unlike the ASV, the method evaluates the conditions of comfort taking into considerations as environmental parameters, the air temperature, the mean radiant temperature, wind speed and the moisture in the air, integrated to the metabolism and isolation of the clothing (ISO 7730, 1994) (Fig. 2).

The ASV method showed good correlations between the microclimatic parameters of reference and the obtained results, highlighting a certain discrepancy with the summer season: if in winter both methods gave comparable results with the actual climatic conditions of reference, in summer the results are quite abnormal if compared with the climatic characteristics of a zone E. To deepen these results, a survey was conducted more analytical depth in transitional arrangements for the calculation of the PMV so as to consider the dynamics of climate parameters of reference and try to obtain comparable results with the actual conditions of reference.

In this phase, the study focused on the verification of the environmental quality of the only internal road. Also in this case, the results of the PMV obtained are comparable, qualitatively, with the previous results, emphasizing as in summer, despite the fact that we are in a 'cold' location, we have a value comparable to the feeling of 'too hot'. Demonstrate how the effects of environmental parameters, which will inevitably affect the conditions for thermal comfort outside, may influence the choice of technology solutions and appropriate morphological to its specific context, has led us to assess the effects that the context, from a point of view of its climate, has on neighboring buildings.

Then, an analysis was made of thermal radiative impact on vertical surfaces of the building facing the internal road of the isolated necessary to verify the possible influences 'thermal' of the external environment on the conditions of interior comfort and on the subsequent definition of appropriate technology for thermal management in both summer and winter.

From the results obtained, it can be seen that, in the summer season the albedo effect of the internal road asphalt is such as to considerably raise the levels of thermal radiation on the building envelope that, in the presence of technologies that are not appropriate, affects the environmental quality within the closed spaces. Assuming a reduction of surface asphalt of the road and replacing it with a traditional 'erborella' that reduces the impermeable surface of about 30%, you get an objective improvement in the distribution of the reflected solar radiation due to the effect of the albedo.

The results thus obtained underline how, in a hypothesis of retraining global residential agglomerations, the verification of the environmental conditions of the external spaces, opens new methods in the detection of design solutions more appropriate to the specific case. Based only on methodologies that derive the operation global energy of a building just by values of thermal transmittance of the enclosure, you can mistakenly choose solutions that, instead, have a high risk overheating that summer of condensate in structures. In the presence of hamlets, the results can be obtained from such an approach may be partial and lead to forecast not satisfying the real performance. Adopt methods based on the interrelation of the nature of the space outside the energy behavior-environmental adjacent structures, leads to a better estimate of the overall performance of buildings. Meta-solutions and design strategies of energy-environmental retraining

This phase is currently underway, but already can visualize some possible solutions such as the 'green' facades on the side more exposed to the summer radiation. A system of bioclimatic greenhouses located adjacent to the living areas of housing, which, however, differ in function of the exposure (Fig.4).

Conclusion

This study3 focuses on a scientific approach on the disciplines that study the bioclimatic approach of the project environmental improvement, exceeding the traditional interaction between microclimate inside and outside of a building by integrating it with the behavior frescoes of the external spaces. These open spaces ranging from simple shorts and gardens, to the streets and squares define the environmental picture of the whole building system.

The parameters to be taken into consideration for an efficient environmental restoration of the urban space are mainly: anthropogenic elements (squares, wide, roads, streets, avenues); elements biophysical (vegetation, water, soil); elements bioclimatic (ventilation, sunshine, humidity, surface temperature). In our regions, in particular, in the summer period, record a thermal discomfort of urban environments due to the overheating of the air due to the combined effect of the heat island, overheating the building surface and the asphalt road. This leads to a greater use of air conditioning systems that entering neither heat to the outside environment nor worsen the conditions of comfort.

The choice of solutions that reduce the power used by supplemental systems, such as for example green facades and roof garden, or other systems bioclimatic, derived from scientific studies of external conditions allows us to define a building system with low environmental impact and high level of comfort of the inhabitants.

1 When a wall is invested by solar radiation, the wall partially absorbs the incident energy according to its absorption coefficient by producing a rise in temperature at the surface itself. This temperature variation produces variation in the thermal flow that affects the wall with respect to the situation of the absence of the solar radiation, to the point that the surface could heat up to reverse outside air, summer conditions rather than outgoing and incoming in winter conditions incoming outgoing instead. In practice everything happens as if the outside air had a fictitious temperature higher, such as to provide for an exchange liminal also the flow of heat corresponding to the solar radiation.
